The D.O.C on Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg & Writing Classic Records
Few writers in hip hop history have shaped the culture the way The D.O.C has.
From the early days of N.W.A to writing for Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, and some of the most influential records ever made, his words helped define the sound and storytelling of West Coast rap.
Recently, Conduct brought The D.O.C to Manchester for a special edition of Conduct Conversations inside Cupra City Garage, where he sat down with Strategy for a rare live discussion in front of a room full of artists, producers and creatives.
The conversation explores the craft behind the music — from writing classic records to navigating the realities of the music industry.
Along the way The D.O.C reflects on working with Dr Dre in the studio, the creative energy that shaped those early sessions, and the process of building songs that have gone on to become part of hip hop history.
The D.O.C at The Conduct Convention, Manchester
The conversation moves into deeper territory — creativity, artistic responsibility, and the role music plays in shaping culture and giving voice to communities that might otherwise go unheard.
For Conduct, the aim of these conversations is simple:
to document knowledge from people who helped build the culture, and share it with the next generation of artists and creatives.
